"the nicest and the sweetest days are not those on which anything very splendid or wonderful or exciting happens, but just those that bring simple pleasure, following one another softly, like pearls slipping off a string."

the word of the day...

...is "grumpy."

we had a family get-together last Sunday to celebrate the summer birthdays of which there are many. ( My goodness November is a 'busy' month!)  Anyway, after all the planning and cooking and shopping for gifts the majority of the guests...o.k. all of them including the hosts were quite grumpy.  Lack of sleep, cranky parents, tired/bored daughter/husband, ungrateful ....well, you get my drift.

Rather than bore you all with the details or further offend anyone who was there, or supposed to be there, I will leave all the 'talking' to my sweet pumpkin.  The end.

  2. My goodness, if that sweet little pumpkin face doesn't wipe away every trace of grumpiness, I can't imagine any party doing the trick!

September is "that month" for my family. Let it never be said that we don't know how to celebrate Christmas through New Year's! ;-)

Well, at least you're finished with the summer b-days until next year. xo

  6. Don't you just hate family grumpy get-togethers?? And don't the words ""family and "get-togethers" always seem to go with the word "grumpy"? So it's not just my family, huh!

Even BooBoo looks a tad grumpy--and for her--that's not easy.

  7. I've had those grumpy "events" in my world also and grumpy sure doesn't fly with me after I've put in a lot of work for other people. I understand. My other peeve - no shows, no rsvp, no calls and yet I still have to have enough of everything just in case they show up. I once even got an "we had something else to do" on Facebook, AFTER the party. Grrrr...

  10. I love the picture! She is sooooooo cute! I dread family get togethers at times too. You are right, people get awfully grumpy about them. Thank goodness it is fall almost!

  14. We meet for coffee at Starbucks to celebrate birthdays these days. Nobody has to cook and you can leave earlier if you like. Try it! Then sneak off to the park with Sweet Pumpkin! She's adorable!
