"the nicest and the sweetest days are not those on which anything very splendid or wonderful or exciting happens, but just those that bring simple pleasure, following one another softly, like pearls slipping off a string."

simple and sweet...

I am one of those 'count your blessings' type of people.  Through much adversity I have learned to 'try' and see the blessings of each day.  Some days are especially hard, like when a family member dies or you spend weeks on end in the hospital or rehabbing your broken body, but even then there are blessings.  I haven't always been this way and it is my belief that I am because of the trials and travails that I have been through.  I really do have a point here albeit lost in all my blathering.  I have been richly blessed.  I have people who love me, care about me and for me.  I have survived without the burden of bitterness.  I have survived to see the incredible sunset that graces us each day. ( I know the sun also rises but I am usually sleeping, still I am grateful!)   I have survived.

For all of you survivors out there, and that is everyone of you, take a moment today to look towards the heavens and say 'thank you.'   I hope your Thanksgiving  is wonderfully blessed with those you love and full plates.  For so many of us who will be alone, hungry, cold and forgotten my hope is that you will be touched by the gift of another's generosity and that your hearts will feel the blessings of the warmth and kindness we all have to share.

Happy Thanksgiving my friends and all who stop by to give me encouragement and hope.  You have touched my life deeply.  Now go eat some pumpkin pie!

  1. Joanne, words from your heart that linger in mine, I,too, have much to be so thankful for, my health right now, our home, big enough so a dear friend can come and live with us, ( she has), family who love, and blog friends all over, as we share and care too. Thanksgiving greetings to you and yours, Jean.
