"the nicest and the sweetest days are not those on which anything very splendid or wonderful or exciting happens, but just those that bring simple pleasure, following one another softly, like pearls slipping off a string."

Tuesday tid-bits...

...yes, I realize it is Thursday but bear with me here for this will be the 'dazed and confused' edition of our regularly scheduled programming.

See this girl here, she makes my world go round.  She brings joy to every life she touches.  Today when I talked to her she was busy in the 'bakery' cooking up something special for her daddy.  She is such a tender soul with a very detailed imagination.  I love her to pieces.  I also have a sweet boy that makes my heart smile but no photos allowed.  Trust me, he would knock your socks off.

This has been a rough week.  Watching friends of mine and friends/family of Fred's   turn against each other and lash out a some one they have loved and lost has been difficult for me.  I want no part of something like that, I want to remember the way I knew him and the friend he was to me and my husband.  Everyone else can deal with their own problems.  I remember when my parents passed and the conflict within the family that I never knew exsisted...I was so naive.

As I was outside earlier this evening, snipping the last of the basil, I could feel summer coming to an end.  It's in the air and soon we will be enveloped in Fall and all her loveliness.  For now though I am hoping for a little more summer.  It was so very short here, hot and humid but over too quickly.  When I saw an advertisement for S'bucks Pumpkin Latte I knew the end was near!   (btw, I've never had one.)

"Pillow Talk," is on TCM right now.  A good movie for the way I'm feeling tonight.  Nothing too dark, or dreary.  I love Thelma Ritter, she is the actor of the day and they have been showing her movies.  I especially like her role in "Rear Window,"  she is such a feisty one.  What are you watching tonite?

Well, I've taken all the random that I can put forth today.  Hope you are all well wherever you are at, in the world, in life.  I heard a question earlier and it's stuck in there now..."how do we ever find the answers to the age old questions?"  what do you think?  are there answers to be had?   take care my friends.

  3. I hear you loudly and clearly here, Joanne. Just trying to get my Dad into a nursing home last year tore my family apart into factions. Taught me a lot and like you I am staying clear of the negativity and 'making adjustments' to certain relationships.

Those age old questions......life provides us the answers I feel in any of the many ways we wish to employ and choose to use......like religion, science, spirituality or whatever works for one.

  4. Maybe it's not having the answers but the process of asking the questions. Finding out what you believe, what you value, what you'll compromise on and what you won't. There are a lot of paths that lead to the top of the hill, you just have to find the one that suits you best?

  5. What a beautiful photo... an image of innocence and joy... a lesson to all of us adults that are caught up in the middle of life's overwhelming isness.
My advice, as an "old person" is...
You must buy a Starbuck's pumpkin latte. They are soooo good. Then take it home and watch the old movies. Those movies with a beginning and an end... and a refreshing innocence.
Don't look for answers or reasons for our path in life. The answers will just come... when you least suspect... when you're watching a sunset... or standing in line at the bank... or looking at a beautiful photo of a child. The answer is just a guide, a direction... it's not even really an answer. It's just an idea that you will choose or discard and then move on in the direction of your choosing. If you don't think it to death... it gets easier.

  6. That sweet face is wonderful and she makes you want to smile and enjoy life. It's hard when the adults of the world or our family can't get along...sorry you're feeling a bit blue but hopefully it will be OK soon. Answers to age old questions don't interest me anymore..I just want to live each day to it's fullest and let God sort out the rest. I love TCM and have watched many favorites this week. So many good ones are on! Enjoy and have that pumpkin drink! (I don't drink coffee but that does sound interesting!)
