"the nicest and the sweetest days are not those on which anything very splendid or wonderful or exciting happens, but just those that bring simple pleasure, following one another softly, like pearls slipping off a string."

dreadful sorry Clementine...

earlier this week
I had the
wonderful
pleasure of spending
the afternoon with
my super-lovely,
brilliantly lit,
grand-girl.

She obviously had a song
STUCK
in that little head of hers
and I swear,
that hard as I
might
I could not change that
tune.
No ma'am,
no 'itsy bitsy spider,'
no 'twinkle, twinkle,'
no 'dradle dradle,'

no....
we were on an constant
loop of
'Clementine.'

"oh my darlin'
oh my darlin'
oh darlin'
Clementine,
you are
loiwndld;b;a;ekkkkarflsie
oh my darlin'
Clementine.
oh MY darlin'
CLEMenTINE!"

one more time,
even louder,
poor
CLEMENTINE.

  1. I kind of like that song! The one I hate to have stuck in my head is the theme song from "Greenacres." Oh no, I've thought of it and now I will soon be humming it all evening...

  2. I love... "you are loiwndld;b;a;ekkkkarflsie, oh my darlin'...
Clementine." Too funny. I can just hear her singing this.
How is it that we get songs "stuck" inside our heads sometimes?
I do it too... but it's cuter when it's your grandchild.

  5. that is too funny. i often find that I have the last song that my last student of the day plays or sings stuck in my head until the next days first lesson. Sometimes it can get rather annoying! But how sweet that she was singing that!!!

  6. Know exactly what you mean! & it lingers forever ... Mackenzie is into You Are My Sunshine & now likes Rock-a-bye Baby (as I have to rock her as I sing).

    Seding you a note privately.

  10. I have to say---that has been one of my most "un-favorite" songs since I first heard it in the dark ages! Maybe it was what made them dark, even, and now it's stuck on replay in my brain! Thanks! :)

  12. Hahaha, my Grandson, born about the same time as your Miss Maude, has a blasting voice, his favorite song is one he made up, it always starts out Ha-Ha, Ha-Ha... and he just bellows it out over and over...he wakes up his baby sister quite a lot, with his song! Luckily, we're able to sing him into another song! Gotta love em'! xo Debbie (the one from the other side of the Emerald City)!
