"the nicest and the sweetest days are not those on which anything very splendid or wonderful or exciting happens, but just those that bring simple pleasure, following one another softly, like pearls slipping off a string."

tap, tap, tap...

...still here
...gazing out the window as the rain falls
...and falls
...still trying to sort through the amazing amount
of stuff we have in our home
...I'm calling it 'decrapification!'
...still thinking I see my Gracie
out the corner of my eye, causing mischief
...still planning gardens of veggies
...and a cutting garden of beautiful flowers
...needing to plant a rose I bought called Grace
...still trying to get all the special women in my life
together for a tea party (aka Mother's Day)
...still finding a tear slipping out here or there
...still holding my chin up
...still holding on
...still waiting

be kind, happiness is yours...choose it.

  1. Oh my--I'd love to de-crap around here, but I am so not up to it right now. Will I ever be, I wonder?

  2. I love your de-crap word!! It's perfect....I'm doing it too. One piece at a time. I hope you get to plant your rose soon sweetie and I'm sending you a great big hug!

  3. Ther it is! De-crap! I plan to but getting started is difficult!
Tears are good and so is happiness. A good balance I'd say.

    1. I like the quote by fellow Maritimer, Lucy Maude Montgomery.

  4. I always say I'm going to declutter...but I think I'd better start with my brain because the house doesn't seem to be interested! Hope the tears fall less and the rain falls less too...Enjoy your "Grace" rose and embrace the sweet memories of your Gracie.

  5. I love Lucy Maud Montgomery! I hope you are having a great day!

  6. Oh- I so need to do what you are doing. I am so sorry about Gracie and I know how your heart hurts at each turn without her there. I am praying for some peace for you- xo Diana

  7. Jojo sweet friend, I know your deep loss ... what a lovely tribute to Grace ... anxious to see the bounty of blooms she will give you. The heart pain will lessen, the tears will slow but you will always be filled with beautiful treasured memories. How blessed Grace was to have you as her 'mommy'.

We are de-crapping also & BOY does it feel good.

I will send you my phone number so we can talk ... sometime next week. My sister is here from OR, the one I hadn't seen in 45+ years. Never give up hope, Jojo ... prayers are answered occasionally when we feel they never will be.

    Love you ~

  8. this was such a sweet post.
I can imagine you'll see Gracie out the corner of your eye for quite some time. How perfect to buy a rose bush named Grace. I love that.

  9. Hi honey I am sad for your loss. This is a really great post.
I can't believe you found a rose bush by the same name.
Take care of yourself sweet friend.
    I think of you often.

  10. Wish I could make your tea party...

We are becoming minimalists and Goodwill is our new best friend. I didn't have that much to begin with as I left it behind with Marriage #1. Gracie lives in your heart and mind...take out the memories of her and unfold them like fine lace and look at them often. Love you.

  11. You always make me cry! Not bad tears, but tears of understanding and caring. I always love your posts. Thank you for your thoughts, and thank you for your honesty.

  12. What a great post loved it, I poped over from Teresa's blog and I am so glad I did the last line spoke volumes to me

    1. Lovely post. You are so honest and true. Thank you for this.
A rose for Graciella. What a beautiful idea.
      Take care.
p.s. I love the word "crapification". I understand and suffer greatly from this syndrome. LOL!
