"the nicest and the sweetest days are not those on which anything very splendid or wonderful or exciting happens, but just those that bring simple pleasure, following one another softly, like pearls slipping off a string."

you've got the power...

****don't forget the MyMemories giveaway on the previous post!*****

...February is the month of l.o.v.e. It is the chocolates, flowers, hearts and sweethearts month. It is also Heart Disease Prevention and Awareness Month. A subject that is very near and dear to my heart ( heart! get it?) On August 26, 2003 I survived a heart attack, (a 100% blocked artery heart-attack) hopefully my first and last one. To say it was frightening does not give credit to the emotions. There are no words...I could have died. Please, get all the information you can, don't think it can't happen to you (I had only one of the risk factors), go with your instinct~~your intuition. Knowledge is power and you have the power...right now.

take the test and check your risks here

  1. God bless.
    Have a wonderful weekend. ♥

  2. I had lots of symptoms of congestive heart failure but the Dr. patted my hand & said, I quote 'women your age don't need to worry about this, Mrs. Ford' ... despite my reminding her my dad dropped dead at age 61 from a massive coronary. That Dr. nearly killed me.

So glad you are doing well, Jojo.

    Happy hearts ~
    TTFN ~

  3. So glad you survived! Heart disease is an important issue for women!!

  4. so glad you survived!!!! I do agree that Heart disease is a very serious issue.

  5. WOW...super scary. I knot they say heart disease is the #1 killer of women, over breast cancer, yet it gets little attention.
I AM GLAD you are well.
    I'll go take that test...

  6. I think about it every time my heart jumps around in my chest, but I wore a little contraption strapped to me for awhile and it says all is fine. That made me feel so much better.

  7. Thank you, Jojo. I think I need a check up.
I didn't know that you had a heart attack. That must be so scary.
When I get back from my son's I'm going to call the doctor about a couple of things that I've been putting off. Thank for reminding me that I'm important too. Women forget.

  8. Great reminder and information. So many of the symptoms could be other issues and its important for us to follow our guts and not just blow off how we feel. Better to be safe than sorry.

I didn't know. I'm so sorry about your heart attack and I'm so glad you survived to be my blogging friend. xoxo

  9. Great advice Jojo! I too survived a heart attack 2 years ago. I had a sub-artery that was 80% blocked. I had been having symptoms for months but either refused to recognize them and/or thought they were due to something else....but not my heart! I thought I was not the stereotypical person to get this disease. I was health conscious, active and slim. But who knew?! I do now.
So yes, go get tested and get a baseline of your 'vitals'...it is good to have.

  10. Such an important reminder you have given us here. I didn't know about your heart attack Jojo, that must have been so frightening and yet such a blessing to know you survived something that a lot others do not. Like in your most recent post, so sad and kind of a premonition of sorts too. xo ~Lili
