"the nicest and the sweetest days are not those on which anything very splendid or wonderful or exciting happens, but just those that bring simple pleasure, following one another softly, like pearls slipping off a string."

The duff diaries...

google images

....the duff, Ive been sitting on mine for over five weeks now.  Thinking, pondering, staring at the four walls (which need painting), counting the tiles, writing messages in the dust and asking all the big questions of life.  You know...the whys, the hows, the ifs.  It's all quite overwhelming if you spend too much time in the pondering.  But you know, every once in awhile you have a moment.  A moment of clarity, of calm, peace, understanding.  And then in another moment...well, it's gone...
here's one that I've stored away and I'm going to share it with you because I'm a good friend like that!

words can change the world by changing hearts

Enjoy this beautiful Fall weekend...I've got another week on the duff but I am choosing to see the beauty in the dust out my window today.  What is out your window today?

  1. Too dark to see outside right now, lol. But I will be doing some painting. And then we're getting another estimate for the roof.

Oh, and doing laundry. Always doing laundry, haha.

    *hugs* ♥

  3. Oh those 'moments of clarity' Jojo!
Out my window right now? Well, the sun is blazing through beckoning us to get out and enjoy this weather on Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada. And that is just what we will do!
Hang in there Jojo.....6 more days to go.

  7. Hope you feel better. It's dark here too, right now, but there are lots of leaves on the ground in my front yard. LOL!

  8. It was a beautiful, open windows day today. I didn't do a whole lot, as I am tired. Had to be up every hour last night and tonight for a fast for the pump. Things are going pretty good with it, but they make you do 4 different fasts, twice. So all I did mostly was cook dinner and clean that up.
I hope your foot is getting better. Let me know. You are so on my mind, and I love ya!!!

    God Bless~

  9. Sometimes it's scary how powerful words are. They can do anything.
But... even sitting on your duff, you encourage us with your honesty.
Take care and keep writing what you are thinking about.
    We are listening, sweetie.

  10. I'm glad you can see the light at the end of the sitting tunnel. Today (and yesterday) there will be sunshine again after a few days of rain here. I'm so not ready for the fall/winter/spring rains. Keep the sun shining even though it shows all the dust....

    to heal
    to hurt
    to injure the soul
    to bring you back
    from the dark
    to see rthe light

  12. I, too, find that enforced duff sitting can lead to moments beyond boredom. I just discovered your blog from Jo's. And now I am afraid I have yet another place to haunt.

But blogs like yours, Jo's and many others make my permanently forced hours of rest far less boring, and stories of other lives help me stop obsessing about my own in harmful ways.

I am enjoying rooting around in here. I just moved into an apartment from a house and at every window I get to see trees. I am so lucky.

  13. Words indeed change things! We were camping at Ft. Ebey today. Out my camper window were blueberry bushes with little wrens darting about, I suppose they were having blueberries for breakfast!

  14. JoJo...It's rained all day today here in my Oklahoma town, yesterday, too! We needed the showers from heaven so badly as the ground is truly parched and weary. Despite the wet earth I looked out my window and was excited to sit on my DUFF and do NOTHING. The rain kept me grounded inside and kept me from doing a bunch of needless activity. Rest is what I needed today... You've encouraged me with your honesty my friend...

Thank you for the comments you left on my blog about my Sunday Posts. Sometimes I want to stop doing them but then someone like you comes along and causes me to press on... Must be a God-thing~

    Bless you~

    Love, Rebecca

  15. SO I just stopped in to catch up, and I know you are frustrated with the healing process but you are watching for the silver linings, which is good. I have had my times of immobility and I go stir crazy, but always try to remind myself that even sitting still is part of the healing process. Giving our body what it needs rather than what we want is always the best. Just breathe and try to be patient. Pretty soon this will be history and a memory.
    Hope your week is wonderful

  17. You made me laugh Jojo. That is exactly how I felt this Summer after the surgery I had. I just sat there looking at all the things that needed doing. I never imagined it could be so much.
Out my window is rain, rain, rain and Idaho could use a little rain no matter when it comes. Whether it's all at once or spread throughout the year, we can always use it here in our dry state.
    hugs from here...

  19. I've been doing a lot of sitting and thinking. It is amazing how things just pop in your head.

    Your words are so true...

We are having a bit of rain and I'm waiting...literally..and staring out the window for sun. Mood lifter :)

    Hang in there hon ((hugs))
