Pee Wee's big adventure...

...it's been a rough few weeks around here and while it is easy to dwell on all that is wrong and unjust, in my world and ours, I have been making a conscious effort to choose something different for myself.  In doing so I hope that I am helping someone else to make a choice in their day to take a moment for joy.  Embrace joy.

Last week my hubs, sensing my restlessness, pushed-pulled-dragged me out to the car.  Which in my condition is no easy feat, get it?  feet!!  O.K., sorry...moving on...we loaded up the car and went for a little drive and ended up here:

Pt. Defiance ferry dock

after which we boarded and took a little ride to the other side, about ten minutes.  Got off on Vashon Island and drove around the entire island, just looking around and checking out places to come back to when I am mobile.  Had a little lunch and drove some more.  Then:

we waited for another ferry, this time from Vashon to Seattle, about 30 minutes.  After we crossed and disembarked...turned right,  went up the hill, turned left...this is what was waiting for us!

we had to visit outside since Mimi (me) couldn't manage all the stairs to the house.  It was getting late and the little punkin' was ready to sack out.  So we loved on her for a few minutes and then headed home.  Thanks to mama for bring her out to meet us.  It was an excellent adventure indeed.   Embrace joy this week,  look for it, seek it out, count your blessings and choose joy.

  7. There is nothing like a good ferry ride - one time my youngest daughter and I took the SanJuan ferry out of Anacortes - a dark night with a meteor shower going on - we rode out and around the islands and back (never got off until we were back in Anacortes), all the time seeing hundreds of meteors flash across the sky - it was a fabulous night.

  10. I'm sooo hoping the days continue to pass quickly for you my friend. I had foot surgery (radical mcbride bunionectomy) right after my daughter was born and I couldn't walk for weeks. So...I can sadly relate to your torment. :( Praying you will be back to BETTER THAN NORMAL status very soon!

So glad you got to GET OUT of your house. My hubby dragged me to Tulsa on Saturday and I'm so glad I went. We stayed at a hotel so I could sleep before driving the 100 miles back home. SOOO WORTH the effort.

    Thinking of you and praying...

  20. What a thoughtful hubby to drag, push and pull you out for an outing with a fantastic finish... Give that man a hug and an extra star for sensitivity. Maybe that's what I need to find... some one or some thing that drags me out every now and then. Isn't it fun to be reminded of the joy that waits for us just outside our doors (whether in our home or in our heads).

    Love you girlfriend!!!

  22. Bless you sweetie for choosing joy. It's not easy to do - I decided to wallow in misery over the weekend - decided that if every day was going to bring frustration and/or disappointment - then I was going to look for it - anticipate it - so it wouldn't be a surprise when it arrived. Reading your post has been a great slap in the forehead - 'cause no matter how hard it gets for any of us - there is joy to be found.

    Praying for you now.
