"the nicest and the sweetest days are not those on which anything very splendid or wonderful or exciting happens, but just those that bring simple pleasure, following one another softly, like pearls slipping off a string."

random thoughts on a Thursday...

...hail!  rain, rain and more rain, hail, wind, rain and an occasional almost sun-shiney moment.  Even for the city most famous for coffee, sunglasses and rain this is getting ridiculous.  We are expecting snow in the morning...yipee.

I have dozens of seed packets at the waiting to be planted.  I don't see it happening any time soon.  Most of them need 70 days to mature, at this rate my plants will be reaching maturity next Fall right about the time for me to dig them back out again.

We had a professional lawn maintenance person come over yesterday.  He was here to give us some advice on how to get rid of the moss that has become our backyard.  It was hailing and windy while he was here and he looked rather forlorn standing under the maple tree.  I don't think he'll be back.

The hubs work hours have been 'adjusted' due to a problem with the mail.  I just want to go on record here and say, I don't like it.

so how is your week going?

  1. You are really getting more than your share of bad weather this year. I wish you sunshine and warm weather soon.

  2. Ugh. We all have days like this...on the upside, your photos are absolutely breathtaking.

Why would you want to get rid of your moss? I think it's luscious looking and am always encouraging it to grow. Anything to keep from mowing a lawn!

I hope tomorrow is a better day for you, jojo.

  3. How's my week going? Well, it's day 4 of my spring break and with any luck it won't rain. Tiptoeing thorough the tulips has been postponed because of the weather. So I've been sorting through old photo albums with my sis instead.
I think you need to embrace the moss Jojo! Anyway, thats what my Northwest Gardener book says. I've got moss too-so lets start a fad and have moss groundcovers instead of grass!

  4. I have moss in both the front and back yard. I did have it all set to have the lawn fertilizer people come, but when I reworked the budget, I discovered I forgot about a bill, so yeah, had to cancel. I think I will embrace the moss. I hope it isn't snowing or raining for you today!!!!

  11. I so hope it didn't snow for you. It's been cold here, but today was the 60's, so loving that!!
I miss you Jojo. We don't communicate like we once did. Probably my fault. You know that black hole? I fell in it a little ways, espically with this last surgery and all.
Hope hubby's schedule work's out for you. I hate changes like that, messes with your life.
    ILY and miss ya too!

    God Bless~
    Debbie

PS. I didn't do the pay it forward, as I am not very crafty.. :(

  12. I have to say that the dreary days sure do have a way of "working my head".....I hate that! Hopefully you are seeing some sun today. It is cloudy and "funky" here today, which is good, as I actually have a mountain of laundry to get to.

I do agree with Jo when she said that your photos are wonderful, so keep 'em coming!

    Hope your week-end is sun-filled!

  14. Disgusting mess from sanding of installation of hardwood floors, last night hubby BLEW the pipes on the intake take from the well for water ... sounded like Mt. St. Helens blowing her lid! It sits directly under my desk in office, scare the living daylights out of me.
Winter won't release its grip yet ... I feel about the same as you re planting ...

Hope today is a better day & the weather is improving ..

    TTFN ~
    Hugs, sweet lady ~

  16. How is my week going? I think my co-volunteer with the rescue is an idiot! Other than that..status quo, we could be in Seattle East, with rain, storms, hail, rain, storms, hail and tomorrow, storms with a high of 88! Oh boy....
