Day dreamin'...

...in twenty-one days it will be summer and we will experience the 'longest' day of the year.  Yet, I swear these last few days have been some of the longest I have ever experienced.

In a short break from the rain, clouds and wind, I took a little walk around my backyard.  It was a soggy, forlorn looking place, looking more like fall than three weeks from summer.  The vegetable garden looking much like it did three weeks ago when we planted it, no, I take that back, everything is squishy and slimey...like someone left the water on too long.  The bedding plants we planted are a soggy mess and will need to some out so we can start over.

I heard on the news last night that we have yet to reach 70degrees...the end of May.  It was 62degrees in the house when I got up this morning and I had to turn the furnace on...the end of May.  So, since Spring has decided to detour from here I thought I should go out and 'find' some spring.  A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.  Just pretend that this is a walk in my backyard:

how about these geraniums?

rows and rows of the pretties.

maybe marigolds are more your style.

or sassy little snapdragons.

or my personl favorite dahlia's.

who knows what these are?

or how about a basket of begonia's
in my favorite color.

ending our tour with a hanging basket
of ruffled petunia's.
these are new to me this year.

How does your garden grow?  And if you are eating fresh tomatoes off
of plants you grew from seeds...
don't tell me about it.

Thanks for taking this little fantasy trip around my backyard with me!
Enjoy your Tuesday and remember....
it's a short week!

Heartfelt Friday...

courtesy google images

I've heard it said
That people come into our lives for a reason
bringing something we must learn.

And we are led
to those who help us most to grow,
if we let them
and help them in return.

Well, I don't know if I believe
that's true.
But I do know I'm who I am today
because I knew you...

Blessings to you this Memorial Day Weekend.  Be safe.  Be strong. Be Grateful.
take care my peeps...jj

White Wednesday...

...I can't believe that another week has flown by since I last posted.  It's been a strange and confusing time over here and I seem to have lost my ability to remember what day it is!   My hubs worked both of his days off which is always mixing up my days and then, on top of every other thing, I started a new medication that is really kicking my butt.  But, I digress...

It is time for another installment of White Wednesday hosted by Kathleen at Faded Charm.  I guarantee that this will be the lamest WW post and I will probably be kicked out of future WW posts but it's all I've got!  We have had days upon days of rainy, dreary, cold weather and I have been unable to get out in the garden but I don't think there is anything white out there right now.  O.K.  here we go:

small chair GW $3.00

soon to be white
large glass vase (?)
GW~~$2.00

soon to be white shutter
GW~~2.00

soon to be white frames
GW~$1.00

If we had decent weather and I could get outside then these things would/will be white!

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out all the other WW participants.  I'm sure you will find some lovely things.

Were it not for Grace...

were it not for Grace
I can tell you where I'd be
wandering down some pointless road to
nowhere.
with my salvation up to me.
I know how that would go,
The battles I would face.
Forever running,
but,
losing the race
were it not for
Grace.

enjoy your weekend y'all.  take care and be careful!

White Wednesday...

...a few years ago, at Christmas time, my son gave me a beautiful vintage box from Frederick and Nelson, dated 1951.  Inside were several ladies hankerchiefs, carefully cleaned and pressed.  Most of them had white backrounds with flowers and embroidery, the rest were art deco.  I found that I loved to display them in vases...

and just for fun; this little cutie that I found recently at the thrift store for 59cents!

I am joining Kathleen at Faded Charm for White Wednesday.  Head on over there and check out all the beautiful whites for this week.  Take care y'all.

It's Tuesday somewhere...

...just some random Tuesdayness Tuesday Randomness.

*I want to be all things for all people, the blog to end all blogs, have all the answers~the stylish home~apron on~dusting done~coffee and dessert at the ready.  Yes, it's the awful "catholic, oldest daughter middle child syndrome" rearing it's ugly head again.  Please, please, please pick one thing and stick with it.  Perfectionism is not for you (me).

*I listen to a 'sappy' radio show in the evening when I am well, let's just say, getting ready for sleep.  The DJ on this show is a very sweet woman with quite a history, she is legend around here.  One of the sayings she has, when talking to a caller, is "Who is on your heart tonight?"  Isn't that just the best?  Anyway, she asked the caller and I silently said 'my mama.'   The very next song she played was my 'mama' song...the one we picked out together, that would be our forever song, that I would hear when she was near and watching over me.  Everyone say it with me now..."awww!"

*I finally planted my wildflowers today.  Seeing as they are just mats full of seeds that you simply roll-out and water, I can't imagine what took me so long.   Also planted some broccoli, squash, peppers, eggplant and cucumber seedlings.  I (we) even planted a yellow cherry tomatoe plant in the topsy-turvy.  We have not used this contraption miracle of modern man yet so I am anxious to see what happens. I still need to get some annuals for the front yard~maybe this weekend.  So, how does your garden grow?

*Bunny, if you stop by,  your package is on it's way.  Sorry it took so long.  You probably forgot by now that you won my giveaway!

It isn't you, it's me...

...I have been such a bad, bad bloggy friend lately and I really must apologize.  I wonder at this point if anyone even comes by here anymore!  Really, I wouldn't blame you.

I have been struggling with some health issues lately, along with the hubs.  With that and the on going family drama I, quite frankly, have just not had much to say.  I am worn out with bad news, with accusations, with poor health~~my head hurts and my heart aches.  I have even considered shutting the whole thing down.

But, I can't.  I love blogging and all the wonderful, beautiful friends I have met here.  I need blogging to keep the "depression" monster away.  I need a place to rant and rave and although I am always hesitant to rant the raving part comes quite easily.

So right here, right now, I am making a promise to myself to shake it off and blog more often.  I can't promise that my photographic skills or my punctuation will improve but I can guarantee that I will be the better for trying.  Take care peeps.

See, I feel better already.

the second Sunday...

mothering:  (verb)
tran:
to look after kindly and protectively.

there are so many ways to mother
and which ever way
you have recieved this Blessing
it is your day
to recieve
 that,
which you have given so selflessly,
in return.

Today,
I celebrate my Mother
in my heart.
I will
carry my cherished memories
close all day
and
thank her for
giving me life.

I also,
celebrate my children today.
for without
the gift
of them
I would be nothing.

Dear Mama,
Thank you for giving me life
and
thank you for making it good.
I love you.

Happy Mother's Day

p.s.  blogger is messing with me today so I was unable to give a link but I want to thank Suzan at Oldgreymare for the beautiful definition of mothering.

Monday's **snap**...

...and a winner!

Congratulations Bunny!  E-mail me your particulars and I will get your winnings in the mail as soon as possible.

I probably won't be around much this week depending on the weather.  The hubs is off work for a few days and we have SO much yard work to catch up on and painting and planting to do.   So have a good week peeps.
