"the nicest and the sweetest days are not those on which anything very splendid or wonderful or exciting happens, but just those that bring simple pleasure, following one another softly, like pearls slipping off a string."

Favorite things Thursday...

...because it's almost the end of another year. Because everyone I meet seems to be cranky (myself included). Because I haven't done my shopping.  Because it's dark at 4pm.  Because my decorating and/or baking has not yet begun.  Because I spent three hours at the doctors office today. Because, because, because, because, because...  I think it's a good time to remember some of my favorite holiday things.

your turn...

  1. Yes, I've seen and had a touch of that same crankiness but mine seems to go hand in hand with my menopause roller coaster. *grrrr* That being said, I truly am thankful for so much in my life...my family, where I live, my church, my friends, neighbors, my gym, TJ Maxx :), and I'm very thankful for my blogging buddies!

  4. ahh the things I love about this season...singing christmas Caroles, Christmas music in the stores, the hustle-bustle at the mall. (I think I am sounding like a Christmas carole LOL)

I also love the anticipation of the big day...

  5. I think I need to do a "Favorite Things" post too. I been really sick for almost a week and I'm so tired of feeling awful. The up side is that I can't go out and do anything, so if Christmas comes it will be with what I have here, which is OK because I'm beginning to see what Christmas is really all about when you take all the commercialism out of it.
Still, I'm ready for good health and a hike outside.
Thanks for the beautiful photos. Loved them all....
p.s. Have I told you how beautiful your header photo is. I just love it.

  7. Well, today I'm loving online shopping while still in my pajama pants and slippers! ha.

It's SO easy to get cranky during this crazy month. Keep it simple, I say. Don't overdo and count your blessings. :)

One thing I'm doing to keep it simple is not to make a dozen different christmas cookies...just our few favorites and that's it.

  9. That's better!
I'm thankful for blogging and getting to 'meet' really good people. I'm thankful for my husband, my family, my dog and most of all my life!!

  10. Moravian sugarcake and sugar cookies, which, if I get out this week, I'm buying and eating all of it. I may even do a little Hickory Farms.

It's been so cold here. Eating and sleeping, seeing my boy and my online friends seem to be just fine!

After 15 years of thinking, I finally managed to hang my Moravian star in a proper place yesterday so I'M GOOD. Tree? Not yet LOL

And yes..cranky does seem to be in the air...
