"the nicest and the sweetest days are not those on which anything very splendid or wonderful or exciting happens, but just those that bring simple pleasure, following one another softly, like pearls slipping off a string."

Quiet time...

...I've been remiss in my blog posting lately.  Quite frankly, my heart just isn't in it.  We've had a loss in our collective 'family,' a neighbor, a friend, a joyous soul.  Sadly, she fell in her garage over the weekend while putting away the last of the Christmas decorations.  The neighbor boy found her a few hours later...gone.
I look out the window at the dark dreary skies and see her daughters packing their mama's life into boxes...and I cry.

  5. I felt this same way when I heard about my hairdresser passing away at age 41. Gone too soon.

Praying the best of the memories in your heart will sustain you.

  6. Oh no! I am so sorry for your loss. We lost a cousin this week. He died in his sleep. He was 57.

    Death is all around us.

I'm praying for you and you 'collective' family.

  7. Thoughts and prayers Sweetie. What else can you say, can you do? I wish there was more. May God give them (and you) the comfort that is so needed now.

  8. Having been the daughter who had to pack away her Mama's things, my heart breaks especially for those daughters, and for you and the others who will miss her. I'm just so sorry. Even though we all know eventual death is a certainty, that is no consolation when it is one of our friends and/or loved ones.

Take care, JJ. Sometimes writing it out helps.

  11. Death is so sad and more so when it's unexpected. This is very sad.

I think that you need a break. Blogging can sometimes interfere with the rest of our life.., and our feelings. Just stop for a while. Give yourself a rest from the lives of others and take a deep breath.
I'm wishing you a day without sadness. Please look for a sign of Spring outside.

  13. Oh I'm so sorry Jojo. What a shock, my friend. I know a little of how you are feeling as we have lost two dear friends so far this month as well. Whenever I lose a friend or family member, I always wonder how I will do in my world without them. It leaves a hole for awhile doesn't it?
    Sending big hugs your way!

  14. Oh JJ sweetie...
Thank you for stopping by my blog, and for finding some comfort there.

Death is a very hard thing for the ones that are left behind. I have been there quite recently myself with my neice from cancer. You know if it is our time, it does not matter where we are, or what we are doing. Your sweet friend would not want you to be so sad sweetie. Rejoice in the fact that she is in no pain, and she is with our Heavenly Father just singing away. You have the most wonderful gift of all, you have memories with her. When you are having a bad day, you reach for your memories and pull a chapter out, and reread it. Those chapters will get you through the rough times.

I will add you to my prayer list sweetie, and will be thinking of you and checking up on you. Smile today and pull a memory out, your friend would be so proud of you.

Another thing in closing. I believe when we pass and we go to heaven, we hang out a star. That is why the heavens are so full of them. If you look out in the skies tonight, the first twinkling star that you see, it will be your sweet friend telling you she has arrived and all is well.

Country hugs sweetie and much love, Sherry

  18. Oh, how horribly sad. A neighbor fell off the second story ladder attempting to put his Christmas decorations up. Punctured a lung and spent 4 days in the hospital.
    Awful...just awful.
and it is very dreary here as well...the 2 days of rain have now managed to become 4 days of rain and I bet it will sneak into a full week before it is all over with.
