Fan-tas-tic...

We. are. back...every thing was absolutely lovely from the weather to the bride and groom. As soon as I get settled, find my camera, and get some food in the house, I will share all the details. Fun, fun, fun...

Here comes...

...the flower girls on their practice run for the big day.

and here comes the Bride and Groom to-be. Notice the lovely bouquet that the bride is carrying, I believe it was made by the flower girls.

We are on the count down now...four days to go. Everything at the rehearsal went as planned, even better, as all of the in-laws to be get along tremendously. I hope this is the blessing we believe it all to be and I can hardly wait to share it with you.

It might be stress...

...but then again.

My hubs always wakes me up when he leaves for work in the wee hours of the morning to let me know he's leaving and tell me he loves me (awwww). Most of the time I don't remember it at all, sometimes I mumble "be careful" or "I love you." Yesterday, he went through his regular routine and apparently I didn't respond at all. He left the room and as he was walking down the hall he heard me say: "Well alrighty then Feung Shui!"

Apparently it's time for me to get my house in order...

Heartfelt Friday...

"Goodness is not defined by

the outward things we do,
but by who we are inside. There was never
a great individual who was not also
patient and compassionate."

It's all in the details...

A few of you have asked me for more details regarding the upcoming nuptials and I am happy to let you all in on what I know. Which is, unfortunately, not much. So here goes:

The Bride and Groom (a.k.a. my son) will be exchanging vows in approximately two weeks, on the grounds of a historic lodge, located in a rain forest approximately 4 hours drive from here. This lodge sits on a lake and the wedding will take place outside weather permitting. If there is a probl
em with the weather cooperating then the ceremony will be moved indoors. Afterwards we will move over to the restaurant for a formal wedding dinner and an evening of great celebration.

The colors are robins-egg-blue and white. There is a bird theme.

The bride and groom will be combining certain aspects of their chosen religions into the ceremony and reception, this being Christian/Jewish. I can not elaborate on these as I am not certain of which they have c
hosen.

The night before the wedding we will have a dinner at our cabin (which we have rented) that we refer to as the "Groom's d
inner." Normally this would be the rehearsal dinner but we are having the rehearsal this weekend due to the traveling involved for everyone. This dinner will be in honor of the groom and will include many of his favorite foods from childhood. It will also include many of our favorite stories from his childhood and much merriment. We expect about 17 people at this dinner and I have finally made peace with the menu! Most of the guests as well as the bride/groom are vegetarians and will dine on Gnocchi. The rest of us meat-eaters will be out at the grill with a lovely flank steak. There will be many side dishes including a favorite dish of each of the grandmother's.

Since the wedding is a very formal event we are planning on the groom's dinner being very relaxed as we will be on a lake and there will be children invited. And just for fun, and because I didn't have
enough to stress about (just kidding) but mostly because my son asked me, I will be making these:

wish me luck ;D

Let them eat cake...

It's another quiet Saturday night and I don't have much to say. I'm feeling rather melancholy today, visions of my little boy running through my head. It hardly seems possible that that little sprite of mine will be getting married in less than two weeks. How does that happen...that time with your babies moves so quickly? I see his blue eyes, and curly blond hair, and I can hear his laughter echoing in the hallways where he would 'run' heading off to his room to get a book to read to me or a toy to share. I see the mischievous twinkle in his eye and wonder what kinds of trouble he is up to. And the eyelashes...why, oh why do the boys get the loveliest eyelashes!

I went to a bridal shower for my daughter-in-law-to-be and had a very nice time. She is a sweet girl and we are so happy to welcome her into our family...I feel the same way about her entire family, and for someone so hungry for extended family in their life, I couldn't be more excited. She is a 'vintage' girl through and through and I can't wait to go treasure hunting with her. In fact, some of her gifts were of the vintage sort including a set of china that was not missing a single piece. And her dress, oh how I wish I could say something about her dress, gorgeous. We had a lively brunch followed by tea and lemon-coconut cake which was obviously well received!

On the allergy front...I'm on Nasonex and it is helping a little bit. I still have the eye twitch and think it will just be one of those things. Thanks for all of your suggestions of help. I've been told the 'twitch' is probably a stress thing and I laughed...stress???me???Ha ;p Truth be told I'm a little sad, and weary, mixed with excitement of things of come. I just have been taken off guard with the complexity of emotions....

There's something in the air...

...and it's driving me crazy. I can't remember being hit so hard by allergy season as I have this one. My eyes are so itchy that I need those little mitten things you put on newborns. They are so red and runny that people think I'm crying all the time, which I am so it's a good cover. And my right eye has been twitching for the last three days. Ack, I'm already on an antihistamine too!

Do you ever wonder about other people lives? Like, what they do all day, or what's it's like to be them? A day in the life of.
..? Who fascinates you the most? Would you like to see what it is like to be Kate Gosselin, or Kelly Ripa, how about PW and her day? I wouldn't trade my life for anything but I sure do wonder sometimes. Maybe we should have a day in the life of segment...anyone want to join in...what is your day like?

Here's another little goody I picked up at a consignment shop recently. It's hard to tell from this picture just exactly what it is I know but imagine it hanging outside my kitchen door with Impatiens planted in the bottom section. I haven't decided on what to put in the upper section. I am going to use one of those 'coco' mats to line the planter, have you tried them before? They are made from the fiber of coconut husks, they come in different sizes which you can cut to fit any type of planter that you'd like. Just throw some dirt and seeds or plants in there and viola! Anyway, I picked this little baby up for $5 bucks. I will post a pic of my finished planter soon. So how is your week going so far?

Iris...

Since Iris is the Greek goddess for the Messenger of Love, her sacred
flower is considered the symbol of communication and messages.
Greek men would often plant an iris on the graves of their beloved
women as a tribute to the goddess Iris, whose duty it was to
take the souls of women to the Elysian fields.
