Nothing...

nothing much to blog about.

I finally made a decision about the wedding wear. I'm going with the beaded top. It just seems more 'wedding' than the others but I did like them all and enjoyed all of your comments. Now I've got to take the other three back to the store so I can do some grocery shopping. (I borrowed from the grocery budget ;p) Did you know I'm not a mall person...can't stand it...at.all. I rarely go there and it's even worse to have to return something...

nothing much.

I've been thinking I need a change. Maybe some new make-up, lip stick perhaps. What do you do when you want to change your looks but not drastically? Right now, I mean 'now' as in the last few years, I've been wearing as shade called "Mushroom." Sounds yucky but it's a peachy-brown shade from 'Just for Redheads." JFR is a cosmetic company for redheads. Us true redheads have a very difficult time finding the right shade of anything make-up related. Especially the strawberry-blonde types. Most of the products out there are too dark, even the lightest of shades (foundation) can be too dark for me. Even Ivory. I just happened to see an article in a magazine about JFR a few years ago and I have been a true believer since. They also have the best mascara for the redheads. Not black. Which in my opinion, on me, does not look right.

nothing much to blog.

I got this wrought iron deck chair (the one at the top of the page that I can't move to where I want it to be) for the amazingly low price of $0.00. Sometimes you win sometimes you lose on Freecycle and this time I think I won. After we picked it up we stopped at the Home Depot and bought two cans of spray paint and a cushion that was on sale. All in all, when it is finished, it will have cost me about $10. Not a bad deal I might say.

nothing much to blog about today. How about you?

And one more for the road....

The top one is a jacket/tank/pant set that my husband picked out last weekend after a few hours of being dragged around the mall. He even went to David's Bridal with me just to make sure I wasn't missing something in there! (there's a part of me that thinks he really didn't mind it too much)

This is also a long jacket/tank/pant set that I thought I would wear to the reception, which is being held on a separate day from the wedding. Yes/No??Thank you for the help. I'll tell you tomorrow what I've decided on...IF I've decided.

The Contenders...

"to strive in opposition." wiki

I am going to try and post the first two contenders in the Mother-of the-Groom outfit. (Do you all call them 'outfits' where you live?)
Now please remember that between Blogger, my computer and my camera that this may be a very interesting post. I can only, for some strange reason, post two pictures at a time so we will start with just that.
I have a long, black, flowy skirt that I plan to wear. The first picture is a jacket, a sort of 50's style swing jacket. I thought I would put something 'sunny' underneath it. The second picture (very hard to see) is a beaded top in a berry color. It is the dressiest of the choices and is very comfortable despite being quite heavy (with the beading).
I know the pictures are atrocious but let me know what you think so far and I'll try and post the other two tomorrow.

A comment, a question, and a confession...

First of all, many of you have asked/commented about the Sunday picture. She is a beautiful bronze statue with the sentiment: "My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord." She is located at the Catholic cemetery that my parents are resting at, right at the end of their row. I like to think she is watching over things for me.

Thank you all and WOW...I am so amazed at all your wonderful suggestions for the Grooms dinner and also my wardrobe dilemma. Neither on is solved but we are getting close. We all got together this weekend to discuss some wedding plans and I had a chance to talk with my son, sharing all your wonderful ideas with him. In the end it seems he would like "Gnocchi." This is a little pasta type dumpling filled with spinach/ricotta cheese/parmesan cheese, and then served with an Alfredo type sauce. It sounds good, and rich. We searched the Internet(s) and came up with a recipe that we both liked and sometime this week we will have a run-through and decided on a level of difficulty! If you know "Gnocchi" and have had it before please leave me a comment...
As for the dress. I've decided on a skirt, long, black, flowy. I now have three tops that I'm considering and I may post them and let you all decide since I trust your taste! If I can get the computer and the camera to work together that is.
We had a busy weekend what with the wedding planning, shopping for clothes, and shopping for seedlings. It's just getting too late in the year to plant seeds and so we've had to cheat a little. What few rows of sees we did plant have all run together due to the rain. We just might have some interesting combinations this year. As it turned out it started raining the next day so the poor little seedlings are waiting patiently to find their new homes. (I know I won't melt if I go out in the rain but I prefer not to with my myriad health issues, sprinkles fine...rain no)

I didn't think it would be so difficult to see the boy get married...I am overwhelmed at how this has affected me...

Fifteen minutes 'till breakdown...

Despite the rumors, I'm still here. I must have gone into shock from all the sunshine (one day) but I'll get back up to speed soon. I have a few things I must get off my chest first though...(my chest being what it is)...

  • I am having serious computer issues. That's where I have really been, spending hours at a time with the lovely people at Dell. We're on a first name basis now. "Just replace the damn thing and be done with it."

  • I've been shopping for appropriate wedding attire for a wedding in the middle of June, at an historic lodge, outside, in a rain-forest. Yeah, I'm having a hard time finding something. I've searched the malls and online at every store I can think of and I've come up with nothing. Any ideas?

  • Since I've had no luck shopping for clothes I decided to shop for treasures. Did you know I am a serious 'vintage' shopper? I love antique stores and junk stores and everything in between. I scored some seriously good 'stuff' that I can't wait to share with you after the computer/camera issue is resolved.

  • Oh, I love outlet stores too. I like a good bargain. But I don't like the Walmart. Sorry.

  • We still have not been able to plant our veggie garden because of the rain and the 37degree temps at night. When does spring get here and s.t.a.y?

  • I need some ideas for the grooms dinner. There will be fifteen people there...twelve of them vegetarians. The only thing I can think of so far is dessert. Is there anything wrong with that?

  • I won two (2) contests recently and received both my prizes this week. OMG I scored some seriously cool gifts. M.E. from Adopting M.E. sent me some beautiful hand-made, hand-stamped greeting cards. She is obviously a very creative woman as well as being a very kind, caring friend.

  • The second contest I won was over at the Katillac Shack. I recently found this site and you should head over there and meet Kelee. Very colorful, very sweet friend. There was a beautiful 'Haeger" bowl and few other goodies. Thanks Kelee!

Phewww! I feel better now. I'm trying to get around and visit all y'all as my computer will allow. Hallie and Laura ~Peach~, for some reason I cannot load either of your blogs on my computer. Please know I'm thinking of you. And please send me off an e-mail and catch me up on the what's happenin'. See you later...take care.

Henny Penny....

I went outside this morning and saw this when I looked up.
Then I saw this, and I got very, very scared. I ran back into the house telling the hubs the sky is falling and we are all doomed. After much persuasion I was convinced that it was merely blue skies and sunshine and no need to fear after all.

So back outside I went and sat under this for awhile reading and soaking in all the goodness that is a sunny day. So how is your weekend going?

My troubled mind (Q and A my way)....

lets take a little journey and see what's in there...
Happy May Day!

did you know that May Day is a celebration of the half-way point between the spring equinox and the summer solstice? I can remember when all the little girls in the neighborhood, my own daughter included, would make May baskets and deliver them to all the neighbors. We always got one from our next-door neighbor filled with flowers that she had picked from my yard! So sweet...I miss those days.
Sometimes, when I think about the past and all the people that have touched my life and are now lost, I get terribly sad. I feel like my past is dying and it will all soon be gone. Does everyone get so 'melancholy?'

Why, why, WHY...facebook? I have lost so many of my fellow bloggers to 'it'. I understand that you can connect with a lot of people from the past (see above) and with family and friends BUT...I already do that, so what is the point?

Same question with Twitter??

Did you all know how fabulous Starbucks orange/cranberry scones are? I have always had a dislike for scones, as the only place I ever had tried them was at the county fair and they were stuffed with raspberry jam. I do not do berries of any kind being deathly allergic to strawberries. I recently tried one of these o/c scones and I was hooked. So much so that I have been trying to reproduce the recipe in my own kitchen. I've done pretty well so far with my only problem now being how to get rid of the 27carbs they each possess.

Why can four different doctors look at an M.R.I. of my back, which was read as normal for age, and shake their heads and say they have no idea at all why I am in so much pain...then...the fifth doctor looks at said M.R.I. and says OMG you've been walking around like this for 8 months!?! And that if I had had surgery within the first three months it would have been successful but to have it now would be useless as I have incurred irreversible nerve damage. Yeah...I get to hurt this much forever.

Did I mention Happy May Day? So, what are your plans this weekend?
